If you live in Indiana and you drive on this road they call I-69, then you understand this shirt and want this shirt. You, like me, have been watching crews move dirt around for years. You, like me, have probably sat in the parking lot-type traffic jams that this construction has caused. You, like me, are probably thinking the road was a bad idea from the start because the road, like, worked pretty good before. Cars, like, moved at a reasonable rate. And there was some nice trees to look at. They really muredered those things.
The state boasts that this new road from Evansville to Indy will be "putting Indiana in an enviable position to attract new jobs in a competitive global marketplace." That competitive global market place will take place in just over 75 years.
Here is some more gold from the INDOT website:
The Tier 2 Environmental Studies have been completed for Sections 1 through 5. Thanks to the commitment of governors Mitch Daniels and Mike Pence, and funds from the lease of the Indiana Toll Road, I-69 is rapidly moving through construction. Sections 1 through 4 from Evansville to Bloomington are now open to traffic. Mainline construction on Section 5 began in late 2014 and is scheduled for completion in 2018. Section 6, connecting Martinsville to Indianapolis, is in the final stages of its environmental study. A FEIS and ROD for Section 6 is anticipated for the first quarter of 2018.
I think it's awesome they started building this thing without knowing how they were going to build this thing. And I think it is great they are "rapidly moving through construction." I just wish my boy Mike Pence was here to partake in the driving experience he helped create.
